Volunteers are organized according to skills – some volunteers can just pick up garbage and unnatural debris along the banks where the water is shallow, while divers and snorkelers can concentrate on the deeper sections of the river. The cleanup encompasses 70 miles of the Delaware River.

“On and Under the Delaware River Cleanup” is a big undertaking for Kittatinny Canoes and their employees. All Kittatinny Canoes staff work well into the evening hours preparing food and cleaning up after the volunteers, as well as getting set up for the next day, which includes transporting all the boats and equipment needed to the different locations and picking them back up in the afternoon. At the end of each day Kittatinny will be collecting the trash and depositing it at Kitattiny’s Matamoras base for final sorting, recycling and disposal.

On and Under the Delaware River Clean Up Schedule:

MONDAY, JULY 18th - 8:30 a.m. - Meeting at Kittatinny Canoes Barryville Base – Clean up kicks off with a large country breakfast and then volunteers begin cleaning.
